Reichard Christian Therapy is the result of years of formal training, clinical practice, life experience and a passion for helping people pursue meaningful and fulfilled lives. Welcome to my practice. I have a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in counseling / psychology, which includes training in Christian counseling. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 25 years of experience providing individual, couples and family therapy. Areas of individual treatment include stress management, anger management, emotional management, procrastination, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, discouragement, self-confidence, and depression. Areas of couples treatment include communication problems, conflict management, parenting conflicts, emotional regulation, relationship anger, unforgiveness, lack of companionship, emotional disconnection, emotional affairs, sexual intimacy struggles and sexual affairs. The Family therapy I provide primarily focuses on helping parents and their adult children reconnect by improving communication and resolving conflicts and healing past resentments. As a client, you can have confidence that the guidance, interventions and solutions offered are consistent with Christian principles and morals.
Christian Therapy
The treatment methods, strategies, interventions, guidance and solutions provided are consistent with Christian principles and morals. In addition, Christian therapy offers clients a deeper understanding of themselves, which promotes thorough and lasting change. This deeper understanding is rooted in viewing self (also known as identity) honestly and accurately. Knowing and embracing our true identity sets the stage for greater self-acceptance, self-worth, internal peace, and healthier relationships. Identity starts with recognizing who we are and not what we are. Who we are is determined by God, as He thoughtfully designed and created us. God Identifies us as meaningful, valuable and purposeful. Relying on our accomplishments, mistakes, circumstances, self-perceptions and others view of us leads to an ever-changing and unstable identity. Through all phases of treatment, I help clients reflect on their self-perception and compare it to God’s perception of them. When the client’s view of self is aligned with God’s view, deep and lasting therapeutic changes are possible.
What to Expect
If it’s your first time pursuing therapy, you may be hesitant to commit to the process. New and unfamiliar experiences often create uncertainty.
However, therapy (commonly referred to as counseling) isn’t new or unusual. Counseling has existed as long as humans have walked the earth. Whether it’s from a friend, relative, mentor or religious figure, people look to fellow human beings for support.
A licensed therapist provides professional, specialized guidance and interventions.
The initial session involves gathering information about current and past struggles. Clients leave the first session with a preliminary action plan and homework exercises (homework is given after all sessions).
The second session involves a review of homework, further assessment of unproductive thinking patterns and education on developing healthy perceptions of self, others and circumstances.
By the third meeting, clients often begin feeling more confident and equipped to address the deeper (root) issues that are fueling unwanted emotions and behaviors. It is recommended that clients complete 3 consecutive weekly sessions to quickly facilitate change and generate hope that things can improve. Sessions will then be scheduled as needed.
